Neighboring land was owned by Bryant, Bennett, Barnett, James Baird, and Benton. In the will of Thomas Briant, dated July 28, 1835, he left his son, William, his plantation and all of his property including his waggon & gear. The other children each received one dollar. No mention was made of John T. Bryant in the will. Witnesses were Benjamin Benton and Jeffries Bennett. The will was proven on Aug. 10, 1840. It is doubtful he would have referred to 88 acres as a plantation. More likely he owned more land in the area, likely the 1200 acres on N Fork of Rough Creek mentioned above.
